In addition to the founders, four other media organisations who want the Baltic Press Publishers’ Collective Management Organisation (BPCMO) to represent them in negotiations with the users of media content have joined the BPCMO.

To date, private limited companies Hiiu Meedia, Geenius Meedia, Nädaline and Raadio Kadi have entered into a representation agreement with the BPCMO.

Erik Heinsaar, the Chair of the Board of the BPCMO, said that it was a great pleasure to see such a strong interest among market participants, and added that the as wide as possible coverage on the local market makes the negotiation process smoother for the BPCMO, for the news media publishers who have joined it and for its contract partners.

The BPCMO is a collective management organisation established in June this year by the largest news media publishers of Estonia, whose main activity is to hold negotiations with various users of media content (such as Google, Microsoft and Meta (Facebook)) for the licensing of media content, collect the licence fees payable by them on the basis of licence agreements and distribute the fees received among the publishers who have joined the BPCMO.

Through the BPCMO, publishers will be able to more quickly and easily enter into agreements for licensing their media content and significantly optimise transaction costs. The objective of the BPCMO is to promote the rights and interests of all news media publishers.

It is possible to enter into either a membership or representation agreement with the BPCMO. This depends on the size and wish of the publication. All news media publishers will be treated equally and fairly on objective grounds.

The founding members of the BPCMO are public limited companies Delfi Meedia, Postimees Grupp, Õhtuleht Kirjastus and Äripäev.
