The Baltic Press Publishers’ Collective Management Organisation (BPCMO) is pleased to welcome SIA Izdevniecība Rīgas Viļņi as a new member. The company’s long-standing experience and strong position in the Latvian media market bring an important new dimension to our cooperation. Baltic media organisations face many of the same challenges, and working together gives us the best opportunity to respond effectively to these changes.
SIA Izdevniecība Rīgas Viļņi has been active in the Latvian media landscape for nearly three decades. Founded in 1997, the company’s media portfolio includes well-known magazines and newspapers as well as digital media channels. Over the years, the company has grown into an important player in Latvia’s media sector, delivering content ranging from social and current affairs coverage to lifestyle and entertainment. SIA Izdevniecība Rīgas Viļņi’s strength lies in its ability to combine long-standing publishing expertise with modern digital media.
The company’s decision to join BPCMO reflects a broader development in the Baltic media market: publishers increasingly need to cooperate to ensure the work invested in creating high-quality journalistic content is fairly valued in the digital environment as well.
BPCMO brings together news media publishers from Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania and helps them collectively exercise and protect their rights. One of its key areas of activity is communication and negotiations with major digital platforms to ensure that the use of media content takes place on fair and transparent terms. The more publishers join BPCMO, the better it can represent the shared interests of the Baltic media sector.
With the addition of its new member, BPCMO continues its mission of bringing Baltic news media publishers to the same table and helping to shape an environment in which high-quality journalism retains sustainable value in the digital age.
